DOT Bicol Urges Tourists to Use Accredited Services

As the summer season and Holy Week approach, the Department of Tourism in Bicol (DOT-5) is reminding tourists to engage only with accredited operators and service providers to guarantee a safe and high-quality travel experience.

DOT-5 Director Herbie Aguas emphasized the importance of choosing tourism-related establishments with official accreditation. “When you deal with DOT-accredited establishments and operators, you are safe. These businesses are committed to providing quality service and ensuring the safety of tourists,” Aguas said in an interview on Monday.

Ensuring Tourist Safety and Service Quality

Aguas reassured the public that all DOT-accredited establishments undergo thorough evaluations and training. Travel agencies, hotels, car rental services, and tour operators must meet stringent requirements before receiving accreditation.

“When inquiring, tourists should ask for DOT accreditation and check updated documents. Establishments often display their credentials on social media or official websites,” he added.

Accredited personnel, including tour guides and travel operators, receive specialized training to enhance their customer service skills and ensure passenger safety. These efforts are part of DOT-5’s ongoing commitment to elevating tourism standards in the region.
