Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the group, led by Jessie and his wife Jonibel, received support from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), including training and equipment. This support helped them to enhance their skills and expand their market reach both locally and internationally through participation in agri-trade fairs. The group’s collaborative approach led to increased productivity and success in their farming and fishing activities.

3. “Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program” Cash Aid from OWWA

Luzviminda B. Macalinao, a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from San Ignacio Manay, Davao Oriental, received cash assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) under the “Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program” for distressed or displaced OFWs. The assistance was provided by OWWA Region XI, represented by Mr. Herman C. Sab, OWWO II, with support from Ms. Anniellou Joy D. Bitac, PESO Manay Manager, and Hon. Timoteo O. Macasambat, the barangay captain of San Ignacio, Manay, who personally awarded the cash assistance to Mrs. Macalinao.
