What Is the PES Program?

The PES program is designed to help parents and guardians like you strengthen your parenting skills.

Through practical sessions and workshops, the program teaches you how to better nurture your children, manage your household, and even handle difficult situations like discipline or safety during disasters.

The sessions are offered at no cost, making it accessible to everyone who wants to learn and grow as a parent.

The program is especially beneficial for those caring for vulnerable children—such as kids at risk, children in conflict with the law, or those exposed to violence.

If any of these situations sound familiar, the PES program can provide the guidance and support you need.

Who Can Join

PES is open to all Filipino parents, but it prioritizes those who are taking care of:

  • Children at risk: Kids facing challenges at home or in their community.
  • Children in conflict with the law: Minors who have had encounters with legal authorities.
  • Children exposed to violence: Those who may have witnessed or experienced violence, either at home or in the neighborhood.

If you are raising children and find yourself in any of these situations, PES offers a safe and supportive environment to help you navigate the tough times.

What You’ll Learn in the Sessions

The PES program is packed with helpful lessons divided into specific modules.

These modules address common parenting issues and provide solutions that you can apply in your daily life.

Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect:

How PES Is Implemented

The PES program is made available in cities and municipalities across the country through the DSWD.

The sessions are usually held in partnership with Local Government Units (LGUs), making them accessible to parents and guardians in both rural and urban areas.

If you’re interested in joining the PES sessions, you can contact your local DSWD office or LGU to find out when and where the next session will be held.

There are also collaborations with the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Health (DOH), and other agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to family support and education.

Senator Win Gatchalian urged the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to collaborate with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to implement the Parent Effectiveness Service (PES) Program Act, also known as Republic Act No. 11908.

The goal is to increase parental engagement in their children’s education and address the rising cases of bullying in the country.

Dr. Bernadette Madrid from the Child Protection Network Foundation highlighted that many incidents of bullying stem from violence experienced by children at home.

Gatchalian emphasized the need for the PES Program to expand parents’ understanding of their responsibilities, while DSWD Nueva Ecija shared that the program has long been implemented in the province through various seminars and training sessions.

The local DSWD continues to support government efforts, working with the Department of Education and PTAs to fight bullying.
