In a significant step toward strengthening local development, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program, officially turned over a newly constructed two-story multipurpose building in District Santan, Barangay 4, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
A Symbol of Unity and Progress
The turnover ceremony was attended by key figures, including National Government Officials, Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) representatives, DSWD-Caraga Officers, KALAHI-CIDSS Area Coordinating Teams (ACTs), Barangay Officials, and Community Volunteers. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
Barangay Development Council-Technical Working Group (BDC-TWG) Chairperson Benjamin Salvador expressed optimism about the facility’s long-term impact, saying:
“As we celebrate this milestone, let us remember that this is just the beginning. May this building inspire us to aim higher, work harder, and continue building a brighter future for our barangay. Let it serve as a reminder of the power of unity, hard work, and a shared vision.”
KALAHI-CIDSS: A Model for Community-Driven Development
KALAHI-CIDSS, one of the flagship poverty alleviation programs of the DSWD, employs a community-driven development (CDD) approach. This globally recognized strategy empowers communities by involving them in decision-making, improving service delivery, and promoting good governance.
With the completion of this multipurpose building, residents of Barangay 4 now have an essential space to foster community engagement, economic initiatives, and local governance. The project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven solutions in creating sustainable development.
